Varsity Volleyball’s ‘One Percent Strategy’
When a volleyball coach looks into a player’s eyes, they can see the intensity, strength, passion and energy that the player is giving during practice and in the games.
Over these past few months Peyton Haller has been doing exactly that.
She is the new volleyball coach for this school year and plans to push the volleyball team to help them succeed.
“Foremost I’m bringing [in] higher energy level. We function on intensity [in] the gym and just getting better,” Coach Peyton Haller said.
Haller said she wants her players to work harder during practice and in games which she refers to as her ‘one percent’ strategy.
“She asked us for one percent and being able to push yourself and to hold each other accountable for any errors or mistakes. Or, knowing we can do better when performing,” senior Amaya Marshall said.
The volleyball players said the ‘one percent’ strategy has helped them grow.
“I think we’ve been through alot together. As you guys know we been through three coaches in the past four years. So I feel like since we have so much diversity we work well together,” junior Haley Simpson said.
Even though the players said they’ve gone through challenges, the girls believe that it has changed them for the better.
“Coach Haller is a really good coach. I think when she came to this school she brought a ton of energy and motivation that we were lacking in previous years. She just came in and brought the work ethic,” Simpson said.
Coach Haller and the team plan on going to playoffs with motivation, work ethic, and the ‘one percent’ strategy.
