What Lies Beneath Our Yearbook Pages

The yearbook editors worked hard this year and received third place in a competition.

For students, the yearbook is a way to remember the fun times they had this year in school.

But for the yearbook staff it is a remembrance of all the hard work and time spent on making that final product.

Since staff members came from different schools they had to come together and make the first edition of ‘The Reign’.

“We had to collaborate from a lot of different schools and just bring all those different ideas together which wasn’t easy,” said Keegan Friedrichs, a junior editor.

The yearbook staff really wanted to make the IHS yearbook different from any other schools.

Since the school has over 1,000 students the yearbook staff made it their goal to put everyone in the yearbook.

They were able to include 667 students in the book at least three times.

“We want our book to standout as one that tries to show every aspect of life at Independence HS as possible, that is what will make our yearbook different,” said Mrs. Brooke Allen, the yearbook advisor.

Along with all the dedication and time put into the book came the joy of finishing the final product.

The staff was really excited and proud of themselves for making such a great first edition of ‘the Reign’.

“ We tried to get a lot of quotes and pictures of a diverse group of people that way everybody or a lot of people have a part in our book just like they have a part in our school,” said Cheyenne Atchison, a junior yearbook editor.

The yearbook staff can’t wait to show everyone the hard work that was put into the book.

“It will be even better once we get the actual books in and are able to share them with everybody,” Allen said.

As you are flipping through the pages of ‘the Reign’ recall the work that lies beneath the pages.
