StuCo makes it a year to remember

The Reign Yearbook

Mrs. Sipes stepped in for Mrs. Patterson to help student council plan events for the year.

As the pressure rises to gain school spirit, Student Council makes it their goal to let every Knight be proud to go to Independence.

The student influenced council put together most of the events to make this year memorable.

“ My favorite part of being in StuCo this year was definitely was being able to come together as a class and plan events for the school,” said Natasha Burklow, a junior. “I think the best thing about that was being able to promote school spirit being a first year school.”

The students helped put together amazing events like our the Pink Out Pep Rally, the Forthcoming Dress-Up Days, the Forthcoming Dance, A Knight at the Movies, and our Aloha Pep Rally.

Though the events were fun a lot of hard work that went into making the year so great, there were some challenges they had to conquer.

“Some challenges we ran into were getting them approved by the administration and money,” said Jackie Kuwitzki, a junior.

Mrs. Stephany Sipes, our Assistant Principal, helped out a lot when the Student Council Advisor, Nicole Patterson, went on Maternity leave.

The students were able to finish out the year strong.

“ It was kinda [hard] towards the end because she left right before teacher appreciation and there was some tension with that, but we worked it out pretty well and Mrs. Sipes was able to help us a lot,” Kuwitzki said.

“Really a lot of the credit goes back to the students, they’re all very well organized, they kinda manage themselves like young adults,” Sipes, said.

Even though it wasn’t the easiest year, Student Council did an amazing job making this year a one to remember.
