The story behind the art

Everyone has a passion to do what they love, but these art students’ passion for art is much more than just a hobby.

Art to me is very important because it’s a way that we can express how we feel and show everyone how we feel and what we see,” said Asmita Chitale, AP Art 3 student.

By expressing their emotions through their art, these students can tell a story for anyone to interpret.

“Art is a way for people to relay a message and it’s a creative means for people,” said Lua Akhtarkhavari, a sophomore Ceramics student.

Mr. Leonard Buscemi, the school art teacher, believes that art is all about story it tells.

“They are needed to speak and tell stories in a way that will be understandable to the ones viewing them.” said Mr. Buscemi.

Emma Zhang believes that being able to put your feelings into every art piece makes it much more personable.

“I sculpt what I feel that day…you add your own flare to it like texture and everything adds to its personality,” the sophomore said.

Although telling a story through their art is necessary, they said that showing creativity and artistic skills can add to the final effect of the piece.

“It’s a way for me to show off that this is what I do, people say that they dance and they are good at something, but art is something I’m good at…and I like to show people what I can do,” said Akhtarkhavari.

After all the planning, creating, and story-telling is done, the art is complete and the satisfaction they say they gain makes the hard work worth it.

“Sometimes it doesn’t come out perfect but when it comes out like you envisioned it….it’s the best feeling in the world,” said Zhang.
